Leave A Lido Legacy

we managed to raise £12.967

We smashed our target! Thank you to everyone who donated.

WORK STARTS AT THE END OF JANUARY!!!

WHERE IT ALL STARTED.

Let’s Play Tennis in Droitwich Lido Park is an organisation which was set up to work alongside Wychavon Council with the aim of improving the public tennis courts in Droitwich Lido Park for the benefit of everyone in the town. (THIS COMES AT A COST IN EXCESS OF £40K)

Our vision is a town/local community where everyone has the opportunity to play tennis on great public courts any day of the week with unrestricted access, free of charge.

In addition, we are committed to working with other local organisations and partners to encourage people to take up the sport by running various courses at the venue for as long as we can.

Campaign leader Elaine Ball started the campaign in June 2016 after visiting the Park wanting to play with her two young children.

She found the courts full of pot holes and cracks and set off on a mission to get this changed!Much effort went into speaking to National Sporting bodies and other funding organisations, it became apparent that if the money was to be raised it would have to mainly come from the local community through the generosity of individuals or businesses.

As such the “Leave a Lido Legacy” campaign was born.

The Leave a Lido Legacy gave individuals and business the opportunity to sponsor an area of the courts, leaving a legacy to the town for anyone to use in the future.

Contributors will be recognised on a weatherproof “board of fame” which Wychavon have agreed will be erected next to the courts on completion of the project. As such, individual names, family names or businesses will, in a small way, become part of the town history and be on display for years to come, recognising the support that they gave.
